Transfert de chaleur d'un fil supraconducteur avec isolation poreuse : performance.

Heat transfer performance of superconductor wire with porous insulation.

Résumé

The insulation of superconductor wire is the main obstacle to heat transfer in superfluid helium, which brings heat fluxes down to the same temperatures as those measured in helium I. An improvement by using porous material instead of lacquer had been made for a copper wire in a previous work. To verify the effectiveness of the method when used with superconductor wire, two different porous materials are used as coatings of niobium-titanium wires and measured in helium II, through which 20% quench current and 40% recovery current increases were seen compared with the lacquered wire. A 4-fold increase in peak heat flux and still more recovery heat fluxes are achieved.
