Résumé
A Danish manufacturer of professional food service cabinets is involved in an R&D project with the aim of developing a new generation of professional food service refrigerated counters. The project also involves Danish Technological Institute (DTI), the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), a global manufacturer of compressors and a global manufacturer of fans. The aim of the project is to reach energy class “A” of the EU energy labelling scheme for professional service cabinets. The present generation of cabinets is classified in energy class “C”. Thus, it requires a reduction of almost 50% energy consumption to reach energy class “A”. The testing is carried out according to EN16825. During the project, it became clear that the goal can be reached by reducing the “cold bridges” around the doors, by increasing the insulation thickness, and improving the refrigeration system by using a new compressor technology as well as a better condenser fan motor. R290 is used as the refrigerant.
