Utilisation d’un sous-refroidisseur au R718 dans un système frigorifique de supermarché au R744.

The use of an R718 subcooler in an R744 supermarket refrigeration system.

Résumé

Refrigeration systems with R744 have become the standard in supermarket refrigeration. This also applies to installations in warm climates. However, due to transcritical operation, the efficiency for R744 decreases more with increasing ambient temperatures than for comparable synthetic refrigerants. A variety of different technologies exist to increase efficiency, for example ejectors, parallel compression or dedicated mechanical subcooling (DMS). When choosing a refrigerant for a subcooler, there is a wide range of options. One choice can be the natural refrigerant water (R718).
In this paper the use of an R718 subcooler in an R744 supermarket refrigeration system is evaluated. Based on real-world performance data a simulation model is validated and then used to optimize the operating strategy, i.e. the amount of subcooling. A comparison is made between the DMS concept and the basic CO2-Booster system without mechanical subcooling on the basis of annual energy consumption. Furthermore, lessons learned for the real-world installation and further steps are discussed.
