Résumé

Under the conditions of electricity production in the UK, the study clearly demonstrates that carbon dioxide emissions can be reduced significantly by using ice storage equipment. This must be coupled to refrigeration plant in which condenser pressure is allowed to float downwards during the night. Conversely, the study suggests little environmental benefit from ice stores with conventional thermostatic expansion valve-controlled refrigeration machines in which the condenser pressure is set artificially high.
