Adsorbant consolidé composé de chlorure de lithium-graphite expansé pour la fabrication de glace par sorption.

Consolidated lithium chloride-expanded graphite composite adsorbent for sorption ice making.

Résumé

A low temperature driven consolidated composite reactive block for ice making sorption systems was manufactured and tested. The composite block was made from expanded graphite powder impregnated with LiCl. The mass ratio of the salt and the graphite was 1:1 and the apparent density of the block was 463.5 kg/m3. From experimental results, more than 70% of global conversion was achieved during 30 minutes of synthesis at evaporation temperature of -10 and -5°C, whereas for the same period of decomposition, more than 80% of conversion was obtained at generation temperatures between 75-80°C. The highest average specific cooling power during the synthesis phase was 130 W/kg of the composite block, and was obtained at the evaporation temperature of -5°C and heat sink temperature of 25°C. The calculated coefficient of performance under different generation temperatures and global conversions was close to 0.50. The new composite adsorbent showed better adsorption and desorption capacity, compared to that of activated carbon (AC)/methanol pair and could be suitable for ice making with short or long cycles.
