Résumé

This report of a research project of the University of Wisconsin-Madison uses a ten-story commercial office building located in Texas, USA, as a prototype to investigate the environmental impact associated with various electric and gas technologies for providing ventilation and comfort cooling. Contents: source energy perspective; building modelling (building description; plant models: conventional, chilled water storage, static ice storage, and direct-fired double effect absorption systems; equipment sizing); energy and emission trajectories; results (energy consumption, oxides of carbon emissions, sulfur dioxide emissions, total source energy consumption).
