Coulis de glace dans un bac d'accumulation : simulation numérique du processus de fusion.

Storage tank ice slurry: numerical simulation of the melting process.

Résumé

A computer-based dynamic model of ice slurry melting in a storage tank containing ice crystals dispersed in the binary solution has been developed. The model assumed a homogeneously mixed storage tank with neither inlet nor outlet mass. Melting and growth of ice particles were caused by differences in equilibrium temperatures between the formed liquid solution and the binary mixture. The numerical modelling is performed using a pressure-based finite-volume method according to the SIMPLER algorithm. Clear visualization of the Rayleigh-Benard convective cells and their interaction with the melting front are obtained.
