Résumé

The interest in natural refrigerants is rising due to global targets toward net zero emissions. In this scenario, the re-design of many vapor-compression cycle units, both in refrigeration and comfort, converting them from synthetic refrigerants is a key task. However, this might need to address critical points regarding simplicity, costs, and safety, especially when dealing with hydrocarbons. Despite charge reduction being a good way to reduce volume and thus cost, this approach is not normally considered with synthetic refrigerants. However, this is a key factor for enabling the wide use of hydrocarbons, according to regulation constraints for safety. In this work, the first attempt to create and validate a dynamic numerical model has been made. The creation of a digital twin of the existing system highlighted some limits in the used design and experimental approach. Thus, an analysis of the weak points of the test method and model validation is presented as a starting point for future research activities.
