Ecoulement et transfert de chaleur dans un film tombant de coulis de glace en surfusion.

Flow and heat transfer in a supercooled falling film of ice slurry.

Auteurs : DAVIES T. W., PATRICK M. A., CARETTA O., et al.

Résumé

Slurry ice may be produced using falling film technology in which a binary mixture of water and freezing point depressant is chilled as it runs down a vertical refrigerated plate. A practical system for the manufacture of slurry ice in this way which does not require mechanical surface cleaning is currently under investigation by the authors. This paper describes some preliminary results obtained using numerical modelling to predict the performance of such a system. The model is based on an energy balance for the falling film and has been used to predict heat transfer- and ice formation rates.
