Enquête sur le R-290/R-170 comme remplaçant du R-22/R-23 dans un cycle frigorifique en cascade.

Résumé

R-22/R-23 have been predominantly used in cascade refrigeration cycles. Even though the ozone depleting potential of R-22 is not as high as CFCs, it still contains ozone depleting chlorine, and will be forbidden. Hydrocarbons, such as R-170 (ethane) and R-290 (propane) are the environmental benign alternative refrigerants. A thermodynamic analysis on the R-290/R-170 cascade system under the evaporating temperature from -80 to -60°C and the condensing temperature from 30 to 40°C is processed. System performances, such as the maximum COP, the cascade evaporating temperature, the mass flow ratio between high-temperature and low-temperature circuits and their variations are compared with that of the R-22/R-23 under the same conditions. The results show that the performances of the two cascade systems are approximately the same. So R-290/R-170 can be considered as a good substitute for R-22/R-23 in the cascade refrigeration cycle when the evaporating temperature is lower than -60°C.
