Entrepôts frigorifiques au Royaume-Uni : en route vers le zéro émission nette.

UK cold stores – the road to net zero.

Résumé

The UK cold store sector has challenges to meet its net zero target by 2050. A project funded by the UK Department for Energy Security & Net Zero (DESNZ) is analysing the opportunities to reduce carbon emissions in cold stores from refrigeration equipment. The project includes reviewing the UK refrigeration carbon emissions from cold stores, surveying cold stores fabric and refrigeration equipment and to produce a road map for carbon emissions mitigation. This paper focuses on the finding of the site surveys and details how currently innovations are used in the sector, the quality of maintenance and the opportunities to reduce energy consumption by 20% on non-optimised refrigeration systems. We will provide the recommendations of the changes required in the cold storage and refrigeration industry to reduce the carbon emissions when operating refrigeration equipment.
