Résumé

Sea-ports are taking on new functions, as the traditional operations of handling, quality controls and interim storage are expanded to include repacking and distribution. This series turns the spotlight on the growing importance of these new activities with reference to Europe's fruit ports. Part 1 deals with the Channel, North Sea and Baltic ports; part 2 is devoted to the European Atlantic ports. A third part will report on Mediterranean fruit ports.
