Factors affecting storability of apples in Syria.

Résumé

A study was carried out to investigate the effects of various environmental and production factors and storage conditions (refrigerated or non-refrigerated) on the storability of Golden Delicious and Starking apples in Syria. The results showed a negative relationship between fruit storability and each of the following: temperature from April to September, irrigation before harvest, yield and fruit size. Increasing altitude, and rainfall during winter had positive effects on storage quality.
