This guide is written with particular reference to the cold storage industry and deals with both the design and operational aspects of energy conservation. It is divided into 4 sections: Reduction or prevention of heat ingress into the cold store. Heat ingress should be limited to a minimum to avoid the costs of its removal. Guidelines for energy saving in heat removal. This section outlines good practice for energy saving for the refrigeration plant and equipment in both design and operation. Recovery of some of the heat removed from the cold store by the refrigeration plant. Tools for energy management and some key figures for measurement of energy consumption.
