Résumé

The term "alternative fuel" has been used to describe any fuel suggested for use in transportation vehicles other than gasoline or diesel fuel (alcohols, natural gas, LPG, vegetable oils, hydrogen are all covered in their entirety). They are considered the most likely candidates for use in internal-combustion engines and future energy conversion devices such as fuel cells. The book describes the impact of physical and chemical properties on refueling system design and the necessary modifications of existing garages for safe storage and maintenance. Chapters cover: alternative fuels and their origins; properties and specifications; materials compatibility; storage and dispensing; refueling facility installation and garage facility modifications.
