Résumé

This article is the Spanish translation of a paper presented at the IIR-Gustav Lorentzen conference on natural working fluids, in Copenhagen, Denmark (see this issue of the Bulletin, reference 2010-1937). Refrigeration systems contribute to global warming through their direct refrigerant emissions and the carbon dioxide emissions associated with the energy conversion for operating the refrigeration system. According to a recent IPCC report, supermarket refrigeration systems have the highest direct global warming impact of all refrigeration and air conditioning systems (IPCC, 2005). This paper describes various options in order to reduce the global warming impact of supermarket refrigeration systems such as: reducing the energy consumption; reducing the refrigerant charge of supermarket refrigeration systems through heat exchangers with reduced refrigerant side volume or indirect refrigeration systems; using natural working fluids. The paper describes the findings of a recent research project sponsored by the German Federal Environment Agency. Current state of the art technology is presented together with a thorough TEWI analysis of various technology options. The TEWI analysis includes an error analysis and clearly shows the environmental superiority of natural working fluids in supermarket refrigeration systems.
