Morphologie de la congélation d'une gouttelette d'eau impactant sur une surface froide solide.

Freezing morphology of a water droplet impacting on a cold solid surface.

Auteurs : QUAN S. L., LI W. Z.

Résumé

The objective of this experimental study was to investigate the morphology change of a distilled water droplet impacted on a cold smooth solid (stainless steel) surface. The entire freezing process of the water droplet was recorded by a high-speed video camera and observed visually under a series of surface temperature and ambient temperature. The camera images revealed that the speed of the water droplet refreezing was a function of the surface temperature and ambient temperature. The maximal diameters of all ice shell were almost the same under cold conditions and the time when the ice shells reached to the maximal diameter was the same too under all conditions.
