Résumé

Sustainable building philosophy is focused on minimizing energy consumption but at the same time it brings to light new issues concerning indoor environmental quality in buildings. Taken measures to reach higher energy performance of a building may result in insufficient ventilation rates and therefore to CO2 and volatile organic compounds concentration increase, relative humidity increase, mold growth in winter period or overheating in summer period. The topic of the paper is focused on these issues in school buildings. Paper provides case study results from measurements aimed at CO2 concentration levels that were taken in two Czech schools.
