Résumé

Experiments were conducted to investigate the postharvest quality of plum cv. Oneida stored in a cold room in the open air or in boxes tightly wrapped in perforated or non-perforated polyethylene foil (at -0.5 °C) with or without lime at 100 g. Wrapping with perforated or non-perforated foil reduced the water transpiration rate. No skin shriveling was observed during a 4-6 week period of cold storage. Results showed that to reduce water loss and prevent plum fruit shrivelling during storage, a perforated polyethylene foil may be used as it markedly decreases water loss but does not cause the accumulation of carbon dioxide in amounts that may lead to the increase in internal breakdown development.
