Résumé

Heat pumps for electric vehicles must be energy efficient to handle the thermal loads of the battery, motor, power electronics, and cabin while not deteriorating driving range. The R744 heat pump is not only environmentally friendly, but is especially advantageous in heating mode compared to other refrigerants. However, in cooling mode, both capacity and coefficient of performance should be improved. In this paper, we selected a gas injection cycle as one of the strategies to enhance the performance, and numerically explored the optimal operating conditions for the cycle. The optimal injection ratio and injection pressure were investigated when the outside temperature was 35°C, 45°C, and 55°C, respectively. The performance improvement was also confirmed compared to the results of basic cycle. Furthermore, it is analyzed whether the thermal loads of the battery and cabin could be satisfied simultaneously when battery cooling is applied.
