Résumé

The method of ice slurry production by direct injection of a refrigerant into water has been described. The relevant requirements to a commercial introduction of this method in refrigeration technology have been outlined. The theoretical thermodynamic performance of potential refrigerants in the refrigeration cycle has been assessed. Further, the effect of refrigerant properties on the performance of each major system component in isolation has been analysed. A set of quality criteria considering economic, safety and ecological aspects is chosen for grading both the system and the suitability of refrigerant candidates. The suitability of each refrigerant candidate is shown by grading its compliance to the requirements and its influences on system quality. It has been concluded that the hydrocarbon R600a meets the requirements for this ice slurry production system best.
