Résumé

This brochure looks at the results of four projects involving cooling systems that use natural refrigerants. It is especially important for shipowners within the fishing sector. The refrigerant R22 is still used in many cooling systems; however, this is being phased out within the EU. From 2010 onwards, these systems will not be able to be topped up with newly produced R22. Various Dutch shipowners have already decided to use natural refrigerants, such as ammonia (NH3) and carbon dioxide (CO2).
