Le froid dans les abattoirs : une comparaison entre les coûts énergétiques annuels générés par les systèmes conventionnels et ceux fonctionnant avec les coulis de glace indique qu'il existe un important potentiel pour réaliser des économies.

Résumé

As a typical example, a 2500 pig/day single shift abattoir has been evaluated. The daily load profile for the abattoir was determined from known operational data, and annual weather data for the location in question were obtained. Expected plant efficiencies were calculated for the resultant combinations of load and ambient conditions, and hence the total monthly and annual power costs could be determined for a typical conventional refrigeration plant and an equivalent ice slurry plant. It can be shown that potential cost savings with the use of a slurry ice system can easily exceed 30%. Under these conditions, the additional investment required for a slurry ice facility can be recovered in under 2 years. In addition, slurry ice systems offer the end user greater operational flexibility, greater peak load capabilities and greater system redundancy.
