Résumé

In a case study, a realistic design of a postharvest infrastructure with cooling and storage equipment, has been calculated based on electric consumption and electric peak load. For this facility an infrastructure for the production and buffering of electricity has been set up, with solar PV panels & battery as the only source of electricity. Reason for this set-up is the desire to assess the impact of independence of the energy network from an economic point of view. Economically, a disconnection from the national electric power grid leads to extremely high costs for the electrical supply of specialized storage facilities. The combination of independence of an electrical network and high capacity postharvest infrastructure for fruit storage shows utopian. Technically, decoupling is possible, even with high peak electricity consumption during product cooling.
