Summary

A NEWLY-DEVELOPED AND SIMPLE CALORIMETER IS RECOMMENDED FOR ROOM CONDITIONER CALIBRATION BY MEANS OF MEASURING THE HEAT INPUT INTO AN AIR TUNNEL. IN ADDITION TO A BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ITS PRINCIPLE, EQUIPMENT AND INSTRUMENTATION, THIS PAPER IS PARTICULARLY FOCUSSED ON ANALYSING THE EERIMENTAL ERRORS, LIKELY TO ARISE IN PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS. THE OVERALL ROOT MEAN SQUARE ERROR WAS EVALUATED WITHIN 3%, WHICH IS ACCEPTABLE FOR INDUSTRIAL USAGE. BECAUSE OF ITS SIMPLICITY AND CHEAPNESS, CALORIMETERS OF THIS TYPE HAVE BEEN ADOPTED BY A NUMBER OF FACTORIES IN CHINA.
