Summary
On the basis of equations of the thermodynamics of moist air a simple formula describing the relative moisture content of air has been obtained. The latter can be determined by the use of the dry bulb temperature and the dew point temperature only, without a dependence on the atmospheric pressure. This result is used to estimate errors of the most commonly applied technique to measure relative moisture contents.
