A CROSS-CULTURAL STUDY OF CLOTHING AND THERMAL COMFORT.

Summary

THE THERMAL INSULATION VALUES OF TRADITIONAL KOREAN GARMENTS AND ENSEMBLES WERE MEASURED USING AN ELECTRICALLY HEATED, LIFE-SIZED COPPER MANIKIN. WEARING THESE ENSEMBLES AND WESTERN ENSEMBLES WITH THE SAME INSULATION VALUES, 16 KOREAN SUBJECTS (MALE AND FEMALE) PARTICIPATED IN THE THERMAL COMFORT EVALUATION. THE CLO VALUES MEASURED FOR KOREAN GARMENTS AND ENSEMBLES CONTRIBUTE TO THE GROWING DATA BASE OF CLO VALUES FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF CLOTHING.
