Summary

The major elements of a device for measuring the air fluxes of natural and forced ventilation in the buildings are explained. After discussing the hypothesis which make it possible to use the one-dimensional theory of air movements in confined rooms, the authors illustrate the technique of tracer gases used to measure the air changes in the buildings. Afer examining the method of analyzing the experimental data, they mention some applications and the different measuring methods. Then they describe the characteristics of the construction and operation of the portable instrument system which they have designed and developed in the Energy Department of the Politecnico in Torino.
