Summary

THE BLAKE-KOZENY MODEL FOR PRESSURE DROP IN A GRANULAR BED IS USED TO DEVELOP A MODEL FOR HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER FROM A FLUID TO A PARTICLE IN A GRANULAR BED. COMPARISON OF RESULTS WITH DATA FOR NEWTONIAN AND NON-NEWTONIAN FLUIDS SHOWS THAT THE PROPOSED MODEL GIVES GOOD PREDICTION OF HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER IN A GRANULAR BED.
