DESCRIBES A NEW TYPE OF PASSIVE SOLAR DEVICE COMPRISING A VERTICAL AXIS GLASS CONE OR PYRAMID LOCATED IN THE ROOF OVER A PATIO AT THE CENTRE OF THE HOUSE. A SECOND CONE, COAXICAL WITH THE FIRST, IS CONSTRUCTED OF AN OPAQUE MATERIAL AND HAS A LATERAL WINDOW. THIS CONE CAN ROTATE. THE SYSTEM IS SIMPLE, FLEXIBLE AND EFFECTIVE FOR BOTH WINTER HEATING AND SUMMER VENTILATION. OUTLINES METHODS TO EVALUATE THE PERFORMANCE AND OPTIMISE THE GEOMETRY. COMPARES THEORETICAL CALCULATIONS WITH EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS WHICH APPEAR TO SHOW AN IMPROVEMENT ON THOSE WITH A MORE TRADITIONAL PASSIVE DEVICE. (INT. BUILD. SERV.
