Summary

Investigates the feasibility of a passive evaporative cooling system making use of natural ventilation at the building facade. The system utilises the evaporative effect of water falling vertically along guides to produce a reduction in the temperature of the air entering the building. It could also be used as a design element in the building facade. States such a system would provide an inexpensive, energy efficient, environmentally acceptable and potentially attractive cooling system. Illustrates it schematically. Presents a numerical study to demonstrate the system efficiency and air flow rate through a building.
