Summary

A new formulation for the thermodynamic properties of nitrogen has been reprinted from the "Journal of Physical and Chemical Reference Data", published by the American Institute of Physics for the NIST. It replaces a reference equation of state that had been in use since 1973. Because of changes in density calculations between the two equations, it will have an impact on the purchase and sale of liquid nitrogen and other cryogenic fluids. In addition to the equation of state, ancillary functions are given for the vapour pressure, the densities of the saturated liquid and vapour, the ideal gas heat capacity and the melting pressure.
