Summary

We propose a simple mechanistic model to predict the heat transfer coefficient for annular two-phase flow, valid for both evaporation and condensation. The model is based on the analogy between two-phase and single-phase flows and considers the thermal boundary layers near the wall and the vapor-liquid interface. The model predicts evaporation and condensation HTC to generally within ± 20%, which is a pure prediction without fitting to any data.
