Summary

IN THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY 50 THOUSAND MILLION MARKS HAVE BEEN SPENT ON ROOM AIR-TREATMENT INSTALLATIONS. THE ANNUAL COST FOR THE UPKEEP OF BUILDING SERVICES, INCLUDING ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING SYSTEMS, IS MORE THAN 3 THOUSAND MILLION MARKS. BECAUSE THE INSTALLATIONS ARE FOR THE MOST PART OLDER THAN 10 YEARS, MODERNIZING AND RECONDITIONING THEM CAN ACHIEVE CONSIDERABLE ENERGY SAVINGS. IN ADDITION, GREATER CONCERN FOR COMFORT, HYGIENE AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION MEANS THAT RECONDITIONING MUST MEET HIGHER STANDARDS.
