ADVANTAGES OF SCREW COMPRESSORS.
Author(s) : ERNST S.
Type of article: Article
Summary
THE AUTHOR POINTS OUT THE GAINS IN EFFICIENCY WHEN USING SCREW AGAINST CENTRIFUGAL COMPRESSORS FOR REDUCED CAPACITY OPERATION IN AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS. BELOW ABOUT 60%, A MULTIPLE SCREW COMPRESSOR UNIT SHOWS CONSIDERABLY BETTER EFFICIENCY, AND MOST AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEMS OPERATE AT BELOW 60% OF PEAK LOAD FOR MOST OF THE TIME. OTHER ADVANTAGES INCLUDE QUIET, VIBRATION FREE OPERATION WITH LOW MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS. COMPARED WITH RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS THERE IS LESS DAMAGE POTENTIAL IN CASES OF LIQUID REFRIGERANT RETURN TO SUCTION. ALSO, FULLY MDI D. W. H.
