Summary

MORE SPECIFIC WATER TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR COOLING TOWERS HAVE BEEN PUBLISHED TO MINIMISE THE RISK OF AN OUTBREAK OF LEGIONNAIRE'S DISEASE, AND THIS HAS MODIFIED THE COST ASSESSMENT. REVISES THE ORIGINAL CASE STUDY MADE IN 1987, CAPITAL AND RUNNING COSTS TO LATE 1989 PRICES AND ASSESSES THE CURRENT WATER TREATMENT AND MAINTENANCE COSTS. STATES THAT THE REVISED ASSESSMENT OF OVERALL COSTS SHOWS THAT UP TO A COOLING LOAD CAPACITY OF 1,200 KILOWATTS THE PACKAGED AIR COOLED CHILLER OPTION IS CHEAPER THAN A COOLING TOWER OR DRY COOLER SYSTEM WITH SEPARATE CHILLERS. THE COOLING TOWER SYSTEM HOWEVER REQUIRES THE LEAST ROOF SPACE. (INT. BUILD. SERV. ABSTR., GB., 25, N 5, 1990/09-10, 90-01397.
