THE AIR CONDITIONING OF RESIDENTIAL BUILDINGS HAS THE DOUBLE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING THERMAL COMFORT AND GUARANTEEING THE COMPLIANCE WITH AIR QUALITY STANDARDS. REDUCED VENTILATION AND/OR REDUCED AIR CHANGE MAY JEOPARDIZE AIR QUALITY AND FAVOUR INDOOR POLLUTION. THEAUTHOR ILLUSTRATES THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS OF THIS POLLUTION CAUSED BY CHEMICAL PRODUCTS, RADIO-NUCLIDES, BIOLOGICAL AGENTS AND MATERIALS AND HE DESCRIBES THE UNFAVOURABLE EFFECTS OF POLLUTION ON HUMAN HEALTH.
