Summary

To maintain economic merits and energy conservation in air conditioning of the Osaka Dome (a large multipurpose indoor stadium), the authors planned to utilize natural ventilation and task air supply system in combination, adopting the following methods: 1. Displacement air-conditioning system utilizing characteristics of air distribution in a large stadium and natural ventilation by airfoil effect of wind from the sea. 2. Energy saving controls by changing supply air temperature and fresh air volume according to occupants density. 3. Task air supply system utilizing the back of fixed chairs to supply air. In this paper, the authors report details of these plans and their actual effectiveness.
