Summary

RESEARCH WAS UNDERTAKEN TO DEVELOP A SIMPLE BUT PRECISE AIR-CONDITIONING AND VENTILATION MODEL ADAPTED TO THERMAL CALCULATION CODES. VARIOUS RELATED ASPECTS WERE ALSO EXAMINED, NOTABLY THAT OF AIR QUALITY. THE LIMITS IN USING THE MODEL ARE EMPHASIZED. THE ARTICLE SHOWS, IN PARTICULAR, THE EFFECT OF VERTICAL TEMPERATURE GRADIENTS ON THE MASS FLOW RATE AND THE HEAT FLUX BETWEEN DIFFERENT ZONES. THE RESULTS OF AN INITIAL EXPERIMENT SHOWED THAT HEAT FLUX IS INDEPENDENT OF THE GRADIENT ; THE MASS FLOW RATES, THOUGH, DEPEND ON IT. DOUBLE NEUTRAL ZONE PHENOMENA WERE SPECIFICALLY STUDIED.
