ANALYSIS OF TEMPERATURE DISTRIBUTION IN ARTIFICIALLY FROZEN ICE SKATING RINKS FOR DIFFERENT PIPING DESIGN BY FINITE ELEMENT METHOD.

Author(s) : MARIOTTI M., STRADA M.

Summary

THE HEAT EXCHANGE CHARACTERISTICS OF DIFFERENT PATTERNS OF THE COOLING PANELS OF A SKATING RINK ARE ANALYZED BY A NUMERICAL FINITE ELEMENT METHOD. THE IMPLICATIONS RELATED TO THE DIMENSIONING OF THE PLANT REFRIGERATING CAPACITY ARE SHOWN WITH THE RESULTING NON-UNIFORM ICE TEMPERATURE AND THE UNVERIFIED CORRESPONDENCE OF THE METHODS GENERALLY ADOPTED FOR THE EVALUATION OF FLOW AT THE ICE SURFACE.
