Summary

CRYOTHERAPY FOR THE TREATMENT OF A HAEMANGIOMA CONSISTED OF APPLICATION OF 203 K (-70 DEG C) FOR 20 TO 30 SECONDSWITH SLIGHT PRESSURE. APPLICATIONS WERE REPEATED ONCE DAILY FOR 3 SUCCESSIVE DAYS WITH REPEATS, AFTER THE SLOUGHING OF NECROTIC TISSUE, OF FIVE TO 30 CYCLES DEPENDING ON TUMOUR SIZE. ANGIOGRAPHY OF THE EXTERNAL CAROTID ARTERY PERMITTED THE IDENTIFICATION OF THE EXACT SITE AND RANGE OF THE PATHOLOGICAL CHANGE AND ALSO THE EVALUATION OF THE MECHANISM OF TISSUE HEALING FOLLOWING THE CRYOGENIC TREATMENT.
