THE PAPER PRESENTS THE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY FOR MODERN AXIAL FANS OF VARIABLE BLADE PITCH TYPE. FULLY STABLE FAN PERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS CAN BE OBTAINED USING A UNIQUE STABILISING DEVICE INTEGRATED INTO THE FAN CASING, AND WITH NO ELECTRONICS OR MOVING PARTS. THE ELIMINATION OF THE STALL LINE GIVES A NEW FREEDOM IN AXIAL FAN SELECTION.
