Summary

This article describes the development of a fuzzy controller for naturally ventilated buildings. The authors describe how a supervisory controller was designed to provide thermal comfort and adequate air distribution inside a single-sided naturally ventilated test room. The controller is based upon fuzzy-logic reasoning derived from a variety of input data, such as wind velocity, direction, and outside and inside temperatures. The initial results showed that the controller was capable of providing better thermal comfort inside the room.
