Author(s) : ALEREZA T.

Summary

APPLICATION OF THE VARIABLE-BASE DEGREE-HOUR FOR CALCULATING HEATING AND COOLING ENERGY USE IN COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS WITH SINGLE-ZONE PACKAGE HVAC SYSTEMS WAS EXAMINED. THE ESTIMATED ENERGY USES CALCULATED USING VARIABLE-BASE DEGREE-HOURS WERE COMPARED WITH SIMILAR VALUES GENERATED BY THE DOE-2 BUILDING ENERGY ANALYSIS COMPUTER MODEL. THE RESULTS OF COMPARISON REVEALED A CLOSE CORRESPONDENCE BETWEEN THE TWO METHODS FOR MOST CASES EXAMINED.
