Summary
To minimize noise immissions in urban areas, methods of sound measurement combined with augmented reality have been developed that enable simple and intuitive access to noise emissions and possibilities to their reduction. These methods allow a virtual representation of a sound emitting device and the resulting sound dispersion in a real environment. In this work, the methods of sound measurement, to obtain transient directional and frequency-dependent sound emission behavior of a device in addition to the sound power level under different operating conditions, are shown. The focus lies on the development of an application for mobile devices, which visualizes the sound emitting apparatus with direction-dependent sound propagation virtually in a real environment. Using augmented reality this apparatus can be freely positioned and moved to find the acoustically optimal position. The sound pressure level can be determined at any position by the observer. In the future, the technology should facilitate the planning and installation of heating and air conditioning units regarding noise pollution, increase the acceptance of heat pumps and thus lead to a higher proportion of renewable energy.
