FOR EQUIPMENT THAT HAVE TO OPERATE AT LOW TEMPERATURES IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT CERTAIN CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS, ESPECIALLY CARBON STEEL, MAY BEHAVE IN A BRITTLE MANNER. COMPREHENSION OF THIS BEHAVIOUR IS CONDENSED IN THE VARIOUS CONSTRUCTION CODES AND MATERIALS SPECIFICATIONS WHICH ENABLE AVOIDANCE OF BRITTLE FRACTURE.
