Summary

THE SHORT CIRCUIT AND SUBSEQUENT VOLTAGE RECOVERY ON BOTH UNLOADED AND LOADED SUPERCONDUCTING GENERATOR ARE TREATED ANALYTICALLY AS WELL AS BY COMPUTER SIMULATION AND THE RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH THE BEHAVIOUR OF CONVENTIONAL SYNCHRONOUS GENERATOR. THE NATURAL FREQUENCY OF THE SUPERCONDUCTING GENERATOR IS SEVERAL TIMES HIGHER THAN THAT OF A CONVENTIONAL MACHINE, THE MAIN REASON BEING THE SUBSTANTIALLY SMALLER VALUE OF SYNCHRONOUS REACTANCE.
