Behaviour of a vapour-compression system under various faulty conditions.

Author(s) : HA D. S., TSO C. P.

Summary

The steady state behaviour of a vapour compression refrigeration cycle in response to several combinations of common faults have been investigated numerically, following which, a fault pattern corresponding to four faults of the vapour compression system has been successfully generated, and this pattern can be used to create a set of rules for fault diagnosis. The results also hint that the trends of variations of temperature and pressure in response to deteriorating faults are the same for any vapour compression refrigeration cycle irrespective of its application and the type of refrigerant used.
