Calibration with real measurements of a straw-bale passive building model.

Summary

As a consequence of the imminent global warming, diverse solutions are being investigated to reduce energy consumption and GHG emissions to the atmosphere. For this reason, materials as the straw are being considered for the construction sector.
This work addresses the calibration of a real straw-bale building. Given the house built by OKAMBUVA in the surroundings of Vilareal, a model was created with building simulation software and validated with real in-situ measured data. The project presents the procedure for both, the building modelling and the experimental campaign. Finally, the work introduces the calibration process of the building model with the experimental data.
It is intended as future work to compare the energy, techno-economic and environmental performance of the straw-bale building with the conventional building. The final objective is to address the potential contribution of the straw-bale construction in the global warming challenge in front of the conventional construction.
