Summary
Time spent inside air-conditoned rooms has increased during the past years and occupants can legitimately expect air quality to be at least equal to, or higher than that of outside air. More and more often, buildings, and particularly office buildings in the Paris area, are sealed, without the possibility of opening. Mechanical ventilating systems, and especially air-conditioning for comfort purposes, have increased considerably. A certain number of diseases (infectious or allergic) related to these buildings, and a variety of symptoms called "sick building syndrome" have been revealed during recent years. For these various reasons, it has been decided to develop a self-questionnaire listing the symptoms associated with these buildings.
